Taiwan’s Efforts to Save Indigenous Languages


I read an article on the BBC website earlier this week on the subject of Taiwan’s indigenous languages and the current government’s efforts to save them from extinction.

The article Taiwan Seeks to Save Indigenous Languages (12th June 2010) takes a look at the effect that the Japanese occupation and early Kuomintang rule had on Taiwan’s indigenous languages and some of the steps being taken to revive interest and fluency in the Paiwan, Saisiyat and Atayal languages.
